Liposuction Now Available in HD with Vaser Hi Def or SmartLipo Triplex

This is not your grandmother's lipo -- new options in liposuction allow precise sculpting of the most difficult areas. We checked in with two world class physicians to get first hand information about the move from simple removal to precision sculpting.

Liposculpting was not truly available before the advent of new lipo technologies which break up fat making it much easier for the physician to remove precise pockets of fat. Vaser Hi Def uses ultrasound to break up the fat gently while SmartLipo Triplex makes use of laser energy, giving physicians more capabilities to truly shape the patient to a more beautiful shape.

Dr. David Broadway and Dr. John Millard of the Advanced Body Sculpting Institute of Denver both traveled recently to Bogota, Colombia where 17 physicians flew in from half way around the world, coming from the U.S., the U.K., India, Thailand, Japan, Pakistan, Australia, Singapore, Japan and Saudi Arabia. There, they trained physicians in the use of Vaser Hi Def Liposculpture.

Vaser Hi-Def is the artistic and more extreme version of the original Vaser machine which uses ultrasonic frequency to break up the fat before it is removed. In contrast, traditional liposuction does not break up fat before suctioning it out. "Traditional liposuction uses standard cannulas, there's no energy that's imparted to the tissue, there's really nothing other than the mechanical aspects of the lipo cannula itself to help you get the fat out. Ultrasound actually helps to emulsify the fat, it makes it easier to get the fat out.... Now you're not carving on wood, you're carving on a block of butter," says Dr. Broadway.

"We're really trying now to show some definition, we're showing the anatomical detail that the muscles and underlying bony tissues give us." In order to do that, Dr. Broadway helped develop the Vaser HiDef procedure. "It incorporates the technology from Vaser and helps us to emulsify the fat, but it's also a technique, a structured way to get about doing your procedures that allows us to get a more defined look, a more athletic look, a more youthful look."

Dr. John Millard is also a physician at the Advanced Body Sculpting Institute of Denver and uses SmartLipo Triplex to sculpt his patients. He says that, "In the last several years, new technologies have really left [traditional liposuction] in the dust. Laser lipolysis, and specifically SmartLipo, allows us to do much more than just remove deep fatty layers or de-bulk people. Traditional liposuction, you're really, for the most part, limited to deep areas of fat, namely, the lower belly, the thighs, and the flanks. You can take SmartLipo into the face, neck, calves, ankles, arms, really almost every body area can be affected and improved upon by SmartLipo, especially the SmartLipo Triplex."
